Festivals are celebrations that take place in the Kingdom of Alpoko after notable victories for King Corobo. During a festival, the Castle and Castle Town will be decorated with orange and white balloons, confetti will rain from the sky, and the Town Square is bestowed with a wooden pedestal with a large item on top like a trophy, which bears some significance to the defeated opponent. The citizens will also dance around the monument, wearing a hat themed after the loser, and bunting around the festival will also follow the same theme. Mr. M also performs a festival theme to commemorate the occasion. The festival will end in the evening, at which point Corobo will automatically go to bed upon its finish.

During a festival, Corobo cannot hire citizens. Additionally, attempting to use the throne, podium, bed or leaving the kingdom's boundaries will prompt Howser to ask Corobo if he wishes to cancel the festival early. Answering "No" will cancel the attempted action and allow the festival to continue. Answering "Yes" will end the festival early, and Corobo will go immediately to bed.

Whichever of the final four kings is defeated last will have their festival skipped, as other events pertaining to the total unification of the World will take place instead.

Festivals

Cow Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of the Guardian Cow Bones, marking the first festival in the story and the first of only two festivals to celebrate the defeat of a Guardian. The central pedestal displays Cow Bones' decapitated skull and the bunting is black with pictures of bones. The citizens wear cow skulls and shout "Moo!" when talking with Corobo. Liam also retires his classroom in Castle Town during this festival.

Spiked Club Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of the Guardian Onii Man, marking the second festival in the story and the second of only two festivals to celebrate the defeat of a Guardian. The central pedestal displays Onii Man's spiked club and the bunting is patterned after Onii horns. The citizens similarly wear Onii horns on their heads.

Veni Vidi Vici Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of the Onii King, marking the first festival to celebrate the defeat of a rival king. The central pedestal displays a photo frame of a grayscale picture of the Onii King and the bunting has the same Onii horn pattern as the Spiked Club Festival. The citizens wear piles of rocks that resemble the ones seen across the Onii Kingdom. The name of the festival is in reference to the famous Latin phrase that translates as "I came, I saw, I conquered", attributed to Julius Caesar after he defeated Pharnaces II of Pontus in battle.

Jolly Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of King Duvroc. The central pedestal displays a giant replica of Duvroc's crown and the bottle of alcohol it holds, and the bunting is patterned after cherry blossom petals. The citizens wear pink hats shaped like cupcakes, talk about being merry, and hiccup at the end of their sentences.

Merci Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of King Shishkebaboo. The central pedestal displays a giant replica of Shishkebaboo's crown and the plump strawberry it holds, and the bunting is patterned after chocolate, biscuits, and lollypops. The citizens wear strawberry crowns similar to Shishkebaboo's and throw around French phrases such as "Très bien".

Eggan Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of King Omelet. The central pedestal displays a slightly smaller replica of the giant egg from the Eggan Ruins with a crown, and the bunting is patterned after yellow eggs. The citizens wear eggshell hats similar to the Eggans and question their decisions indecisively when talking with Corobo.

ATV Launch Party

This festival celebrates the defeat of King TV Dinnah and thus the launch of the Alpoko Television network, which replaces TV Dinnah's network and secures free television without the need of a broadcast fee to the citizens of Alpoko. Furthermore, after the construction of the bridge along the Broadcast Tower Road, tourism to the Public Broadcast Tower increases, although this is never seen in-game. Corobo also unlocks the Video Archive for purchase. During the festival, the central pedestal displays a replica of the TV at the top of the Broadcast Tower, and the bunting is shaped like the signal towers worn by Broadcasters, but flipped upside-down. The citizens similarly wear hats that resemble the Broadcasters' signal towers and are excited to watch free TV.

Eruption Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of King Long Sauvage. The central pedestal displays a slightly smaller replica of a smoking volcano, and the bunting is long and resembles the railroad gates across Mount Sobamanjaro, with a pair of lights on the outer side. The citizens wear volcano hats similar to the Mounties and shout "Soba soba!"

Junky Junk Festival

This festival celebrates the defeat of King Jumbo Champloon. Since most players defeat Jumbo Champloon last, this festival is easily missed. The central pedestal displays a unique model of a pile of junk that resembles Champloon, but with many more pencils sticking out of his body and face, and the bunting is based on the magnet that is used for Champloon's right arm. The citizens wear propeller hats in reference to Champloon's giant propeller and talk about trashing the environment to celebrate.

Music

The music that plays during festivals is an accordion rendition of the "Drinking Song" from "La Triviata" by Giuseppe Verde.

Trivia

Visual error when Corobo cancels a festival in the second Castle
  • If Corobo cancels a festival by sitting on the throne in the second iteration of the Castle, for some reason he will sit slightly further forwards on his throne. This visual error is most obviously noticed by observing the position of his shadow.
  • The central monuments of the Jolly, Merci, Eggan and Junky Junk festivals will sway in time with the trees and other decorative objects around the World. This is because they are all tied to a shared global animation.
  • Jumbo Champloon's defeat festival, the Junky Junk Festival, is rarely seen by most players. This is because the final festival of the story is cancelled due to the events of the World Unification, and though the final four kings can be defeated in any order, most players opt to fight Jumbo Champloon last.
