Corobo taxing the Red-Roof House with Hardworking Farmers

Taxation is an ability in Little King's Story that King Corobo can enact in order to accumulate more Bol for the National Budget. The taxation system in the Kingdom of Alpoko is not passive, but at the mercy of the choices of King Corobo. It is the only way to increase the current budget without using the Throne.

Corobo may command any citizen into a residence in order to collect tax from the building. Any building can be taxed, with the exception of those that are used to change jobs, Alpoko Castle or the Soup Church. This includes buildings with special usages such as the Skinny Observatory and Marvelous Theater. Buildings in more working class areas of Alpoko such as Grassland Town will pay less tax, whereas buildings in more wealthy areas such as Royal City and Glamour Town will pay more. Select buildings will have gifts in support of Corobo as a leader the first time he taxes them, in the form of Art Pieces, Weapons, Armor or, later on, Kingstones.

Corobo can send multiple citizens into a house to tax it multiple times. However, as soon as the first citizen begins taxing a residence, a short timer begins in which more tax collections can be made using subsequent citizens. After this timer ends, no more taxes can be collected and trying to do so will result in further citizens being unable to enter the building. Therefore, to collect multiple taxes from one household, Corobo must send his citizens in to tax it at the same time. If the player is quick enough, they can rack up to over 30 tax collections from one house before its doors are shut for the rest of the day. Once the next day arrives, all buildings are reset and can be taxed again.

Taxation will not work at the very beginning of the story, as the Kingdom of Alpoko has no money. It is only after purchasing either the Guard House or Farmhouse that buildings become taxable.
